a thousand xylophones

Can this be done in seven days?

Build a life-sized model of this planet
that we stand upon.
Use soil, water and fur.
Use claws and hooves and roots.
Add oceans and mountains that reach
as far as the eye can see and then some.
Add a desert that glows like a diamond
under the sad loveliness of the moonlight.
Add a god or two, or don't. That doesn't matter.
I’ll wait here in the empty fields and pray
and watch the soft rain fall while you work.
I’ll focus on my breath and hold you
in my heart, for you glow like a diamond, too.

Our faith is expressed through our practice. Our practice is our time to remind ourselves we are worthy, we have buddhanature, we are safe at home right now in this moment. Each and every day, our practice is a gift to ourselves.

Mark Herrick

If the cockroach could sing,
What would be its song
While crawling through the kitchen at night?

Welcome to jazz world.

A forest of guitars, growing from the soil like trees.
An ocean of drums, all rolling, rolling.

In the mountains, saxophones and trumpets
blow deep, rich notes, improvising in the snow.

And the valley below holds a thousand pianos,
a thousand xylophones, and one stand-up bass.

The world is ready, friend, count off the beat.
Life is an improvisation, let's begin.
