all day long I’ve been drinking coffee 

and wondering if I am a monkey among dogs 

or a dog among monkeys 

certainly there is something that doesn't fit 

I often seem to be going against the current 

trying to swim upstream 

or peeing into the wind 

I don’t know if I will ever figure it out 

but the french roast coffee today 

is excellent

under this sky no one is eternal 

upon this earth we can depend on death 

and no we will not be reborn 

heaven and hell are bullshit 

there is no light and there is no tunnel 

we just won’t exist anymore 

and what's so bad about that 

hoist up your grown-up britches 

and do your deeds right now 

right exactly now

to be more kind 

both because I can 

and because of the times 

when I was not.
