howls that dress the moon in rags

air like cocaine

breathing in air like cocaine     the drug

of your naked body     your smell of life

breathing out the what some people call sin     but not us

we call it pleasure     we call it the sex that makes our blood

flow red     we call it the passion of our skin

sex     our breath     our skin     our legs open

to a higher truth     that we just like it this way

open up and breathe

Grief is an ancestor who teaches us to exercise constant and immense gratitude.

black dog howl

it is deafness that completes the dog

it is his silence that barks throughout the empty night

and his howls that dress the moon in rags

walking away from the window

I am wearing the rags like a shawl

or a robe     completed by silence
