books and poems stacked crazy

A lone owl
It’s empty call
Floats from out of the trees
But I can’t tell from where
Midnight lays across the land

---

Chilly, brisk air on my face

And all of California at my feet

Friend, every single journey

Begins with just one step

---

The hermit doesn’t sleep the entire night
He gets up for two or three hours, late
To see the moon, the stars, the clouds
The rain, the snow, the wind in the trees.
The hermit is then sleepy all day
Any blink of the eyes could be
The first second of a lovely nap
Funny hermit
Sleeping the day away but waking at times
To see the sun, the clouds, the weather
A hermit with books and poems stacked crazy
Makes his cave look full and wild
