the timeless immensity of being alive

Thelonious Monk, BLUE MONK

Putah Creek is not exactly running low
I wouldn’t say that
But neither is it running high
Winter is upon us
The season of rain has begun
The crops, the trees, the creek
They wait long through the dry season
And so I do the same
Water is precious, water is life
Up early today, checking the sky
For rain

James Lee Jobe

"Sometimes truth is kinder than kindness."

Byron Katie

The whole planet is mapped
And it’s all on your phone
So the place to go now
Is inward

James Lee Jobe

The blue sky makes a poor mirror
There is a road that goes up there
But you’ll never able to see yourself
And that makes it hard to shave
You cannot vacuum the ocean floor
But you can sweep away your failed dreams
You have to want to, of course
Take heart, friend
Today is not tomorrow
And tomorrow doesn’t exist anyway

Alex Lee-Jobe. To call her a poet's wife doesn't seem fair.
Political activist, teacher, Unitarian Universalist.

Like the sky at dawn, silent and vast, let my being merge in the timeless immensity of being alive. I am the universe, the universe is me.
