Crossing the Bridge of Dreams again
Late at night - my third time to go to sleep
Walking over the River of My Mind
It is a perfect night; clear and cool
But not cold, a bright moon
A few small, white clouds, scattered stars
I am not aware of which moment
It is that I close my eyes
THE MOUNTAIN
“When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.”
-Malala Yousafzai
A bullet
Might bring down a child
But not an idea
Not a mountain
Malala is a mountain
Strong, rock
Of the earth
Proud and righteous
Against hard winds
And Malala is an idea
That knowledge is greater
Than fear or tyranny
She, too
Is proud and righteous
Against hard winds
Against fear
And ignorance
A girl
As fierce as a woman warrior
As strong as a mountain
The bullet only set her free
Malala’s lesson shows us
That in the end
Good will always triumph
Over evil
And if good
Has yet to triumph
Then this is not the end
In moments of doubt
Moments of fear
Look to the mountain for strength
Look to Malala
Fear nothing
No grudges, no dead weight. This is a new day and I hope it is a fine day for everyone. May my choices be merciful and may your choices be your own.
