Nothing is perfect, and isn’t that perfect?

february    above this farmland

a cold sunrise stripes the sky

a heron slips through the reeds

in the green swift creek

"who am I?"   I ask the new sun

"only you know"   comes the answer

You can decide to walk in freedom. You can choose to walk  differently. You can walk as a free person, enjoying every step.

Thich Nhat Hanh

bastard

I am sick of listening to your voice

I must find a way to muffle

the sound of you

your god damned voice

your nonsense

it is silence that I want

don't have

don’t deserve

and likely will never possess

your suggestions are tedious

your tonality is a long drone

bastard

even when I close my eyes

you remain

in my mind's eye

in my thoughts

torturing me

a torment

and age is catching up with me

if my time grows short

let it be time without you

I am trying to block you out

you bastard

you son of a bitch

and this time father

when I walk away from your grave

I am never coming back

You must personally accept the responsibility of improving your own life.

 Lama Surya Das

Everyday you bicycle down perfect streets, past perfect houses where perfect people lead perfect lives. And you? Are you perfect, too? The LSD of your mind whispers of chaos and the non-conformist freedom that makes up the whole of you and your differences, and you are thankful for that. You can count the reasons for this gratitude on your fingers and toes, and on the spinning spokes of your bicycle wheels. Nothing is perfect, and isn’t that perfect?

Sometimes I think of poems as language with a little bit of luck in it.

William Stafford

the land mirrors the memory of the footsteps

and the lives that came before

heartbeat and breath    life and death

every root   every insect   all are a part

of the whole   even us

Where there are humans,

You'll find flies,

And Buddhas.
