I was brown so they shot at me
I spoke a different language so they jailed me
I was not born here so strangers cursed at me
some of them hit me
being brown speaking another language
and being born far away across an invisible line
I have no business existing
I was brown so they shot at me
Right
after all this is America
land of equality
and that's not for just anybody

What we speak becomes the house we live in.

here
taste this
you are new
with the feel of a new lover
in your arms
new
flesh on flesh
yes and skin on skin
lips and tongues
a kiss a lick
a second of your time
sensual and new

There is nothing other than this present moment; there is no past, there is no future; there is nothing but this. So when we don't pay attention to each little this, we miss the whole thing.

Imagine this - that you finally let go of the Past
and so allow Today to open up like a rose.

Some people have a way with words. Others, not, have way.

“Good morning, Mr. Jobe.” I need a new name.
One that doesn't belong to a dead man.
A name with power and strength.
Warmth and Mercy.
This name I have, it was my father's name for a while.
It never did him any good either. Hanging
around his neck like a too-short necktie.
Of course, when you get down to it,
we should all choose our own names.
And change them whenever we please.
How do you like them apples, Mr. Government Man?
