What will I dream about tonight?

Rebecca Crowell

Silence is deep as Eternity; speech is shallow as time.
-Thomas Carlyle

As a boy, my son would make small stone dams in the shallows of the Yuba River, beneath an old covered bridge there. The water would swirl around his tiny dams, and sometimes I would help him balance stones in stacks on the river bank. A picnic lunch, a nap on a spread blanket, a story. Over 20 years ago. Now my son is gone, the stacks are gone, and the dams are gone. The story goes on, and the river remains, strong as ever, as does the memory of my dead child. The old bridge and I are still just hanging on.

Anger and hatred are the materials from which hell is made. A mind without anger is cool, fresh, and sane.
-Thich Nhat Hanh

We are all a little broken. But last time I checked broken crayons still color the same.
-Banksy

Today, early morning meditation, then
I added supplies to the local homeless shelter,
read a poem at a public function,
and took my sweet wife out to lunch.
The sky was winter-gray, but still beautiful,
and the cold air on my face felt like being young again.
Which I am not. Split-pea soup with bacon for dinner.
Then maybe some small poems in my journal.
What will I dream about tonight?
I'll tell you tomorrow.

I see mountains once again as mountains, and waters once again as waters.

But deluded people don't realize that their own mind is the Buddha. They keep searching outside.
-Bodhidharma

Fifteen rounds, heavyweight.

Yes, there are those hard days
when just living is too much.

Like Fathers Day
when your son is dead.

Like Mothers Day
And your wife keeps weeping.

Dawn again.
Did you sleep at all?

Already Life is charging out
from his corner. Hard. Gloves up.

Ready to pound you again.
The crowd roars.

Oh, son,
how did it come to this? -james lee jobe

The world is experienced according to the state of one's mind. Remember that everyone appears as Buddhas in the eyes of the Buddha!
