I was born in baltimore
with its dirty streets
and red brick rowhouses
I came west 3000 miles
To fill the california plates
with poems and nonsense
go ahead and eat your fill
and toss the leftovers out
to the dogs and roaches
I love it here in california
all I miss of baltimore
Is the deep love of baseball
and the fried crab cakes
now this bit of nonsense
is done

We don’t have to build and rebuild a “me” on the passing content of the body-mind. Instead, we can stand as the observer.

life goes on
one moment
a new living being begins
and in that some moment
another being meets its end
don’t dwell on it
just be in the moment that you’re in
if you’re reading this then you’re still alive
that’s enough

When I found out that we're in the degenerate dharma ending age where nobody can get enlightened, I thought, ‘That sucks. Why am I even doing this then?’ And then I decided that's a great place to practice. If we don’t have to worry about getting anywhere with it, we can just sit.

age
the flesh grows weak
but the spirit remains strong
what have I become
who will I be
when nothing is left of me
but my heart
