The thoughts of the mouse that squints up at us.

by Illma Gore

You are dreaming
It is long ago, many centuries And you are in a country where English Has never been heard You have a message about love
That you want to share But no one understands anything that you say You feel helpless, like you are failing And you know that the dream is almost over One by one you take each person in your arms And look deeply into their eyes
"Love is the answer," you tell them And although they don't understand You do feel better just for saying those words The alarm clocks rings And you wake up into your regular life
Your wife sits up in the bed and you tell her
"Love is the answer" She smiles at you and goes to the window She opens the curtain Even though outside it is still very dark

Beauty is not caused. It is.

Emily Dickinson

The world is wrong, not you
Once again
The sky and the earth are upside down
It happens all the time
The lone, dirty window to the world is a door
And the door is shut and locked tight
So make that swing go up as high as it can
Go ahead and just jump off if you want to
It feels great
Doesn't it
The world is wrong about everything
All of it
Not you
Trust your own heart
You were born with the answers inside of yourself
As soon as the very first light entered your eyes
You were absolutely perfect
Kick open the door
You're ready

Yo-Yo Ma, Bach Cello Suite #1 In G Major

The heart often falls in love with the things at our feet
The ground by the creek that is so very soft
Like a cushion for walking
The worm that crosses the cool sidewalk at dawn
Making for the grass on the other side
Damp fog that so tightly hugs the earth
The thoughts of the mouse that squints up at us
The ocean when it rolls and roars
Earthquakes
The heart loves all of these things
The mind loves things up high
Mountains, eagles, sequoia trees
The idea of heaven, the need of it
The heart isn't worried about heaven
Heaven can wait
Let's take off our shoes and stomp in the mud
We can stomp and splash all we want
The heart says so

As long as our intentions of dharma practice remain untransformed, we only settle for more of the suffering of samsara, for life in the same old cage. Lama Jampa Thaye
