shrinking with age

Little old man.

                it's true, friend,
you shrink a bit as you get older.
As for me, looking up now at age 66,
I can see the underside of passing ants
and the giant blades of grass,
as big to me as Sequoia trees.
For days now I have been blazing this trail
through what appears to be wilderness,
trying to find my way home.

The choices we make daily make us who we are. As today opens in front of you, choose compassion.

I can pack quite quickly.

Noisy geese fly overhead, moving north up the valley.

I can hear them from my desk, even with the windows closed
and the radio on, even with Nat King Cole singing.

"Take me with you," I whisper.

I hear the geese, but they don't hear me, of course,
and in a few seconds they are gone, far away,
moving fast.

"Get your kicks on Route 66,"
Indeed.

But, truly, I have wept too much! The Dawns are heartbreaking. Every moon is atrocious and every sun bitter.

Feel free to buy me a coffee, below. I do love coffee.
