in the quiet may our healing begin

Photo: Alex Lee-Jobe

I don't bother much
with my poems from long ago
as an old man
I don't even read the poems of middle-age
I'm not really sure who wrote them
some other man not me
that man kept his mind too busy
to ever really be free

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

Maya Angelou

It will happen
the sun will go supernova someday
it won't matter then where you were born
or what color your skin was
and it won't matter who you slept with

Wear you heart on your skin in this life.

When the world is covered with concrete
how will I ever dig my way home

Patience has its limits. Take it too far and it's cowardice.

Great Silence which holds us all, help us to rest in you now. In the quiet, may our healing begin.
