The power of being human.

spoiled fruit

stale bread

moldy cheese

ghosts at the table

laughing

pretending to eat

*

catastrophe      something is wrong

with the planet        it continues

to spin as a planet should      but

this earth of ours prays       like

an old man waiting to die

*

When I leave here

let me go unembalmed into the soil

no coffin

no headstone

let the world be a little richer

for my passing

my flesh feeding the earth

as I fade away

cual era tu nombre

mi nombre era james

*

The power of being human.

From my right hand, a poem escapes,

running down my fingers

to the pencil and the page.

Through the left hand comes an energy of life,

the power of being human.

Neither hand holds a weapon,

and neither makes a fist.

This life is a million particles of dust

flowing beautifully

in the lowering light of the evening.

And I am still James.

The inspiration you seek is already within you. Be silent and listen.

Peace is every step.

The shining red sun is my heart.

Each flower smiles with me.

How green, how fresh all that grows.

How cool the wind blows.

Peace is every step.

It turns the endless path to joy.

Thich Nhat Hanh
