bits and pieces

Mid-afternoon, my granddaughter
is down for her nap,
and my sweet wife sleeps with her.
This old house is quiet at last, after
a full day of a three year old at play.
Now, for meditation in the silence,
there is only my breath.

A sunny winter day, clear but cold and blowing. John Coltrane's A Love Supreme is turned up loud.

I planted some seeds I found and a forest grew, filled with strange birds of many colors. I sprouted feathers and built a nest deep in that forest. I gave names to the birds and the trees. I think I might be the forest god; hear me crow, watch me fly.

Trust yourself. Live in such a way as you know to be true. Be true.

*

getting closer to 70 I trust to coincidence
I trust random
what is this life anyway?

*

I don't hear 'quack.' To me it sounds like the ducks are saying 'whack.'

*

Keep walking. Keep working. Never stop.

Today's forecast: Periods of sadness or sorrow, broken up by periods of great beauty and joy. Welcome to Glory. Open your heart to it all.

*

It's windy here in the valley today, and from the pine trees many small branches break off. My dog wants to smell them all, slowly, one at a time. My smiles from this are small but quite frequent. Thank you, o wind, for your gifts.

Being vulnerable takes power and strength. Real strength. I admire the vulnerable.

Trying to convince someone is fundamentally our ego's activity. Even if we prove to be right, our ego seeks a new argument to tangle with.
